Cairns Afterglow: An Evening by the Water
Narayan Mishra · · Cairns, Queensland

When the city begins to glow
The waterfront feels different as daylight fades. Restaurant lights begin to warm the boardwalk, boats rest at their berths, and people linger beside the water. I brought my camera for an evening walk, following the light rather than a strict itinerary.
The walk passes the Reef Fleet Terminal and the marina. Masts draw fine lines against the sky; reflections tremble beneath the boats. The broad views are beautiful, but the smaller details—the timber path, a conversation, a patch of warm light—give the evening its character.
As I continue towards the Esplanade, the colours deepen. Palms stand against the changing sky, lights stretch across the water, and illuminated trees bring another kind of colour to the path. The film follows that shift from the remaining daylight into the evening.
I did not need a long drive to find this story. Sometimes a familiar waterfront, seen without rushing, is enough. This is my Cairns evening: filmed from the path, narrated in my own Nepali voice, and shared as a small invitation to look around.
